How does laser therapy work?
- Laser therapy uses a concentrated beam of light that penetrates the skin and stimulates a chain of cellular reactions (a process called photostimulation)
- The light is stimulating the body's own cells to accelerate the healing process by:
- Increasing circulation to the area which brings nutrients and oxygen
- activating the processes that accelerate tissue repair and cell growth
- Producing the energy for the cells to use
- activating cells that clean up the waste products of inflammation
Common uses for the therapeutic laser are:
- Osteoarthritis
- Soft tissue injuries (eg.cruciate ligament injuries)
- Chronic wounds
- Post surgical swelling
- Disc disease
- and many more!
